Shipping: When will I receive my stuff?
All reward tiers have an estimated ship date in June 2022. Due to the global pandemic and shipping crisis, this date may change. We are doing all we can to get your KotaUL to you as quickly as possible, and will ship your order sooner if we can. However there is also a possibility that this ship date is pushed back because of external factors outside of our control.
Following the campaign, we will send out frequent updates so you are always aware of any news.

Shipping: Do you ship internationally? What are the Taxes and Duties?
Yes, we ship worldwide. Taxes and duties are paid by the customer and will vary in cost, since they are determined by the country where the customer resides. We ship all products from the U.S. so customs and duties will apply. Please check with your local customs office to determine rates. International customers will also be responsible for any customs and duties fees for any returns and exchanges.

Is it TSA approved?
The KotaUL is not TSA approved. However, we have done extensive research on carry-on requirements and tested it on many airlines, and it will meet most carry-on requirements.

What is the torso length range of this pack?
The KotaUL comes in one size that is quite forgiving. The general range of torso sizes it fits is 17” to 22”, however this does not mean that someone outside this range won’t be able to use the pack.

What are the dimensions of the hip belt?
It is 4.5” tall and adjusts from 28” to 46” around the waist.

Live Ultralight Members: Can I use my membership discount and credit?
We are extremely grateful for our Live Ultralight Members! We commit to do all we can to give members as many benefits as we can. However, when it comes to Kickstarter we are limited because the platform itself will not allow us to transfer over store credit or differentiate on shipping. Kickstarter campaigns are rare (1-2 per year– a small percentage of products we launch), and during most new product launches there will be no issue getting benefits to apply.
As a solution, we are offering earliest possible access to Kickstarter campaigns to all members, with lowest possible pricing. Members have access to these Kickstarter benefits during the first few hours of the campaign and will be notified in advance of this window. After this window ends, prices will rise and benefits will change for the general public.
Members MUST back the Kickstarter project during their early access window to receive the low pricing and shipping benefits.

Does the Volume include the outside pockets?
The 45L volume includes all the compartments and pockets of the KotaUL backpack.
As an added bonus for bringing any extras with you that you can’t quite manage to fit in the pack, accessory strap attachment loops are found all over the pack so you can easily strap on any extra gear.

The laptop sleeve can easily fit most 15 inch laptops.

How waterproof/weatherproof is it?
The custom 210D high tenacity Nylon with 400D Spectra Ripstop Grid has a waterproof rating of 1000 MM. This is considered officially “waterproof.”
However, we believe that zippers are never truly waterproof, and none of the seams on the pack are sealed or taped.
This means that the KotaUL and its fabrics are highly water resistant, but the pack is not waterproof because of the zippers and seams.

Can I order two backpacks, one of each color?
Absolutely! Ordering two backpacks is actually the best deal you can get during the Kickstarter campaign with the biggest savings! Once the campaign ends, we’ll send you a survey where you can select the colors you want.

What is your refund and exchange policy?
You may return your KotaUL Backpack for a refund within 30 days of receiving it as long as it is in new condition. Used products & products that have had the tags removed will not be accepted.
Exchanges are handled as new orders. If you like your product but need a different color please place a new order for the correct item and follow our Simple Returns Process to get a refund for the original order.

What If I want to order more OV products that aren’t in the menu?
Once this campaign ends, we’ll send all backers a survey where you can select the colors you want and enter your shipping info. You’ll also have the option to add other OV products to your order at a discounted price.
All items on your order will be shipped together unless otherwise specified.

When can I select my size and color?
Later down the road, but before shipping dates, you will receive a survey via email that will give you color options. You can choose between the two colors, as well as add on extra items to your order when you fill out that survey.

Accessories: Can I buy additional accessories bundles?
Once this campaign ends, we’ll send all backers a survey where you can select the colors you want and enter your shipping info. At this time you’ll also have the option to add more items to your order such as extra accessory bundles, additional KotaUL backpacks, & other Outdoor Vitals products.

Accessories: Do I have to buy all the accessories or can I just buy one item?
During the Kickstarter campaign, individual accessories are not available and must be purchased as a bundle.
Doing so is actually the smartest move, since you’ll be getting a large discount on the accessory bundle along with your KotaUL backpack. By waiting to order just one accessory item when the campaign ends, you’ll be paying more.

How much weight can the backpack hold?
We recommend not exceeding 35 lbs of weight in the KotaUL to ensure maximum comfort.

The KotaUL Backpack and Accessories come with our Lifetime Performance Promise: We promise that our gear will perform as good or better than the advertised performance levels for each product line. What is BackerKit?
BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!
The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.
How does BackerKit work?
After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.
I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.
Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.
To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.
How do I update my shipping address?
BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.
When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?
That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.
I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?
As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
